Fashionable Friday – K Staton Boutique Review

By Assistant Editor Shayna Spiker

As a plus-size woman, the only fashionable things I could ever buy in Hampden were jewelry, handbags, and shoes. That is, until I discovered K Staton. K Staton opened in 2010 in the back of Lynn’s Gifts located at 817 West 36th Street. Jade Greer, who owns the boutique, is elated to be the first woman to bring stylish, curvy shopping to Hampden.

K Staton carries fashion designers like Kiyonna, Igigi, B and Lu, Karen Kane, Donna Rico, Spanx, Not Your Daughter’s Jeans and more. K Staton also carries accessories including a variety of super-stylish purses and belts and City Slips foldable ballet flats.

The shop is a bit small for now, but Jade has big plans to expand in the near future. She plans on plumping up the amount of clothes from the designers she currently carries in addition to bringing in clothing from other designers. Jade also gets many requests for the hard-to-find plus size bras and panties and wants to begin carrying those items for her customers as well.

I truly loved everything in the shop—all of it is fashionable, current, and sophisticated, definitely something a business woman wants in her wardrobe! And if you’re not sure where to start or what will work for your body type, just ask Jade! She will work with your budget and won’t let you leave without feeling fabulous.

I left with a really cute red cocktail dress that I found on clearance for under $60. Jade really makes curvy shopping personal, and will help you find whatever it is you are looking for.

One of my favorite accessories in the shop was the Obi wrap belt by ADA. The belt looks like a plain, simple leather belt to the naked eye, but it’s actually quite versatile! You wrap it around your waist, and you can tie it like you would a necktie, wear it in a bow, or you can even make a little rosette belt out of it. It is quite a unique product, definitely on my “To-Buy” list next time I stop in.

Do yourself a favor and stop by K Staton this weekend. You won’t leave empty handed—I can promise you that!

  1. Shayna…I love Lynne’s in Hampden! My kids bought me a vintage looking charm necklace 10 years ago with all the trinkets of France! The back room store is great…I discovered by accident myself!
