We recently caught up with the busy and accomplished businesswoman and found out how things were growing at ComForCare. Here’s what she had to share.

When did you found the company or decide to go into business?

June 2009

What motivated you to do so?

I’ve always desired to start my own business. I’d been in the retail food business for almost 30 years and I decided to move on and become an entrepreneur.  I knew that my knowledge, experience and passion prepared me for higher opportunities.

What was the hardest thing in getting your company off the ground?

Making the final decision to proceed by way of franchise or ground level start up.

What has proven to be the best resources to you?

People, people, people…  contacts, networks, friends, family, community, professionals.

What is the best business advice you’ve ever been given and why?

Prepare yourself daily.  Be ready for opportunities even when you aren’t aware of an opportunity.  Great opportunities may be spontaneous.

What do you enjoy most about what you do?

I love making a difference in the lives of others…  my staff, my clients and their families, my community, so many…

At the end of the day, I am resolved to know that I have positively impacted the lives of many.

When you get discouraged, how do you motivate yourself?

My faith in God.  I encourage myself as well.  My family unit is awesome.

Jenette shares her top 4 tips for dealing with an aging parent or a family member requiring special attention or needs – to read that insight and invaluable advice, click here.

When you’re not working, how do you spend your time?

What is “not working”?  :o)

Spend time with family and friends.

How do you define success?

Happiness.  Doing what you like.  Helping others and self.

What do you think is the biggest hurdle to success for women business owners?

Managing all of life’s balls in the air… being wife, mom, sister, daughter, aunt, best friend, mentor, and so much more in the midst of running my own business.

What is your favorite food and why?

Italian!  I love Italian food… because it’s tasty and fresh.

What are some of your favorite causes and why?

  • MSS – Multiple Sclerosis – I am on the Board of Trustees
  • Alzheimer’s – supporter
  • The Girl Scouts – past leader. Current financial supporter.
  • Children’s development – Sunday School
  • Community Improvement – Secretary of Edrich Manor Homeowners Association. Pikesville Chamber – member.  Towsontowne Rotary – member.   GPCA – Greater Potomac Community Association – member.
  • Business Development – Liberty Road Business Association – Board member. SWBA – Security Woodlawn Business Association

Why are you supporting this particular event/cause?

To support those with MS and to help find a cure for MS.

If you could go back in time and tell yourself something the day you decided to start your business, what would that be?

Have more money available to grow and develop my business.
