The Samaritan Women TSW Residence Grand Opening Gala This Saturday

This October, The Samaritan Women will be celebrating the grand opening of the TSW Residence, a therapeutic residence for women in recovery.   The grand opening gala is THIS SATURDAY, OCT 1 from 6pm -10pm and will feature culinary creations from local chefs, a tour of the Residence, silent and live auctions, and entertainment by the U.S. Army Field Band.  Tickets are $75 and can be purchased online.

The Samaritan Women Residence will serve women who have endured deep trauma and who need a patient rebuilding of their lives.  We will serve homeless female veterans, of which the VA estimates there are over 600 in the Maryland/Virginia area and only beds for only a few dozen.  In addition to combat-related trauma, upwards of 70% of our female soldiers have been sexually assaulted, and many who return and do not re-enter into a family structure end up with issues of addiction and homelessness.  The TSW Residence will also serve women who have been rescued from sexual exploitation and human trafficking.  Recent estimates suggest upwards of 300,000 American women and children are victims of commercial sexual exploitation.  This program will be the first full service residential facility for trafficking victims in Maryland.

The Samaritan Women (TSW) estate includes over 23 acres of environmentally protected land, of which nearly 3 acres has been transformed to create Baltimore City’s largest urban farm.  The farm grows produce that supports our Residence and over 50% of the food is donated to families in nutritional poverty.  The farm will be part of the therapeutic program for the residents, coupled with a fully equipped culinary kitchen where the residents will learn culinary arts.

These women—who have seen so much darkness and endured such unimaginable trauma—will reside in a stately Victorian mansion that has been lovingly restored by thousands of community volunteers.  They will be given opportunities for academic and vocational training, spiritual healing, and community support.

We invite you to attend the Grand Opening Gala on October 1st and see this amazing ministry for yourself.    Please visit gala page on The Samaritan Women’s website today and purchase your tickets.  After the opening, the facility will not be available to the public.   If you cannot attend but would like to offer your financial support to these women, please make your donation here.

A special thank you to Jane Barton for bringing this event and this organization to our attention.
