Friday August 5 – BBJ Enterprising Women

The past two years have been tumultuous, to say the least, for business owners. Those that survived were flexible and quickly adapted to the new economic realities. The Baltimore Business Journal will look at how Greater Baltimore’s most successful women-owned firms succeeded and how they are integrating lessons learned during a downturn into their business models going forward. Kwesi O. Rogers, the President and CEO of Shareholder of Federal National Payables, Inc., a small business finance company specializing in providing accounts receivable financing primarily to government contractors.

Tom Turner is a Business Development Officer with Chesapeake Business Finance Corporation, a non-profit Certified Development Company authorized by the SBA to administer the SBA 504 Loan Program. The SBA 504 Program typically involves small business financing for the purchase and build out of commercial real estate and business equipment acquisition.

Ed Knox is the Lender Relations Specialist with the U.S. Small Business Administration. He provides advice, training, and education to lenders, various resource partners, small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs throughout Maryland on SBA loan programs. Wednesday August 10 – Burson Breakfast Series: Web Monitoring and Analytics

You are cordially invited to join the Association for Women in Communications and the Burson-Marsteller digital strategy team for a monthly breakfast and networking series on the evolving social and digital media marketplace.

The monthly series will offer in-depth presentations about today’s most impactful online platforms with strategic insights and actionable tactics from many of the industry’s most respected thought leaders.

The breakfast sessions occur on the second Wednesday of every month beginning April 13 from 8:00-10:00am. Each session begins with a 30 minute networking segment and breakfast followed by a 90 minute, hands-on workshop.

The Spirited Woman Awards were created to recognize everyday women who are making extraordinary contributions to their community and those around them. Award winners and nominees will be honored at a Power Luncheon at Morton’s the Steakhouse on Wednesday, August 17, 2011. Monday August 29 – Optimizing Your Certification — Small Business Seminar

This seminar will teach participants how to optimize their Minority Business Enterprise and Women Business Enterprise certification with the City of Baltimore.
