The Maryland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will launch their “Celebrating Success” series by honoring Dr. Eduardo Rodriguez, surgeon and associate professor at the University of Maryland Medical School. Under his skilled guidance, he and his team conducted an innovative 37-hour surgical operation, resulting in the first successful full face transplant in March of 2012. Hailed as a miracle, this great medical advancement underscores the success Hispanics are having in medicine, science and business. Read more on the surgical operation here.

The event, sponsored by University of Maryland Medical System, will take place on Thursday, September 27. Special guests speakers include Congressman Elijah E. Cummings and Senator Victor Ramirez, the first Hispanic elected to Public Office in Maryland. This Hispanic Heritage Month celebration will also include a symbolic passing of the torch to the future doctors and scientists from our community.
