Maryland Women’s Day Hearing Today, Feb. 9

House Bill 157 will be introduced by Delegate Barbara Robinson in the Maryland House of Delegates this Wednesday, February 9. This bill requires the Governor to annually proclaim March 8 as Maryland Women’s History Day Maryland.

March 8, 2011, also marks the 100th Anniversary of International Women’s Day , started in 1911 in memory of the early campaigns of women workers in the U.S. who led the movement for decent working conditions. It is because of International Women’s Day that March was chosen as Women’s History Month.

The hearing is being held in Annapolis today, Wednesday, February 9, at 1 p.m. in the Lowe House Office Building, Room 240, at 6 Bladen Street (Health Government Operations Committee). For more information, visit mdwomensheritagecenter.com.
