Munchie Monday – Grillfire Arundel

By Assistant Editor Shayna Spiker

If you have to do some holiday shopping – why not go where the food’s good too? Grillfire Arundel, the sixth restaurant in the franchise of the New York-based George Martin Group, opened this summer in The Town Center at Arundel Preserve, near the Arundel Mills Shopping Center. Conceived as a sophisticated American Grill and presenting a menu incorporating breakfast, lunch, weekend brunch and dinner, the restaurant is contained within The Hotel at Arundel Preserve, a 150-room full-service hotel that is also set to become operational at the end of this month.

“By combining high-quality and innovative meals with an attention to detail service philosophy, each of our restaurants has developed an extremely loyal and regular following. The built-in audiences contained within the apartment component and guests at the hotel, in addition to the high-density demographics of the nearby residential and business communities, provide us with multiple opportunities to attract differing audiences throughout the day,” explains George Korten, founder and owner of the George Martin Group.

Grillfire Arundel was designed to appeal to businesspeople looking for breakfast with various hot and cold options, audiences interested in an innovative lunchtime destination, discerning diners throughout the dinner hour, late-night arrivals seeking a burger and consumers and travelers that are attracted to an exotic bar menu at the bar. Separate meeting rooms can accommodate small to medium-sized groups for customized needs.

A sampling of dinner entrees includes a delicious molasses and soy-marinated skirt steak, mouth-watering slow roasted maple brined pork chop fettucine with sea scallops and, a Maryland seafood lovers’ favorite, jumbo shrimp and crabmeat crusted filet mignon. A variety of burgers and sandwiches are also available including black label Wagyu beef burger, veggie burger margarite and seared tuna wrap.

Specialized desserts include Molten Chocolate Lava cake and Caramel Apple Upside Down cake, as well as the cupcake of the day. Their desserts are sure to satisfy event the sweetest tooth. Some of the specialty drinks include the Fizzante Mojito, Sugar Daddy Sidecar and Cabo Raspberry Margarita.

Frank Greco, the executive chef of Grillfire Arundel, brings nearly 30 years of experience in the restaurant industry. A graduate of the New York Institute of Technology and part of the George Martin Group since 1989, Chef Greco indicated that he “incorporates Maryland’s passion for crabs into Grillfire Arundel entrees including the embellishment of prime-aged filet mignon and the presentation of lump meat crab cakes and crab and shrimp cocktail.”

“We have great confidence in Frank’s extraordinary and proven ability to tailor menus that address and satisfy the specialized tastes of different audiences, as well as his overall leadership skills to build and train effective and productive kitchen staffs,” Korten added. “The Baltimore-Washington, D.C. market will quickly discover and appreciate his reputation in both of these areas.”

Grillfire Arundel offers catering services for business groups and private parties, a take-out component, as well as a special Kid’s Menu with items such as macaroni and cheese, sliders and a 5 ounce filet mignon. Grillfire Arundel is simply delicious, and a must-try place for everyone in the family. Really – this is one place outside the city that you don’t want to miss!
