South Baltimore Learning Center To Hold 2013 ‘That’s Amore, The Love Of Learning Gala’ On March 23

LogoJoin the South Baltimore Learning Center (SBLC) for its That’s Amore, The Love of Learning Gala on Saturday, March 23! The event will take place at the Montgomery Park Business Center (1800 Washington Blvd.) from 7:00 to 11:30 PM.

With Fox 45 Chief Meteorologist Vytas Reid as emcee, the black-tie optional celebration will feature flavorful dishes, wine, beer and cocktails provided by Baltimore’s best restaurants and caterers, including: Mother’s Federal Hill Grille, Matsuri, Phillips Seafood, John’s Italian Deli and Nicks Inner Harbor Seafood Restaurant.

Adding to the fun, guests can dance to the jazz, rock, R&B, funk, reggae, Top 40, swing, soul and pop sounds of Fifth Avenue. They also can enjoy a special “Rat Pack” set to tie in with the event’s theme.

Silent and live auctions will have a variety of items up for bid, including: a week’s stay in a Paris apartment, a long weekend’s cabin stay in the forest of West Virginia, Camden Yards skybox parties, premium Ravens and Orioles tickets, and signed Ravens’ memorabilia.

Co-chaired by SBLC Board Vice President Ian H. Neuman (principal, Abbey Drum Co.) and SBLC Board Secretary Darlene Davis (an attorney with Ober, Kaler Grimes & Shriver), the gala will honor the Associated Italian American Charities for its longtime commitment and support of South Baltimore Learning Center.

Individual admission is $110/person. For registration or sponsorship details, call 410.625.4215 or visit www.southbaltimorelearns.org.

  1. Hi,
My name is Mr. Robert Freeman and I am currently attending SBLC. And I am also in the GED part of the center. I have been at the center since April 2012. The teachers at SBLC have been such an inspiration to me. They really sit down with you and work with you in the areas you need help in. Since my enrollment I have risen in both Math and Reading levels. Finally I will be taking the test for my High School Diploma in the very near future and praying I will be one of the graduates this coming spring.
Thank you Mr. Reid and SBLC for such a wonderful time at the Gala. I really enjoyed the entire event.

    • Thank you Robert, we are honored to feature the story of such a life changing center. Much success to you, we wish you all the best!
