Survey Finds One-Third of Americans Expect Presidential Results to Negatively Impact Paychecks

Tomorrow (November 6), Americans will exercise their right to vote during the US Presidential election. Even before the results are in, however, Americans are worried about what the outcome will do to their wallets.

According to the results of a new survey conducted by online personal loan provider, NetCredit, one-third of Americans anticipate that the election results will have a negative impact on their paychecks. Because of these concerns, 4 out of 10 Americans are spending less prior to the election, the survey results show.

When asked about the anticipated impact that the U.S. presidential election will have on their personal finances, 35 percent of individuals believe their paycheck will remain the same while 31 percent believe it will be negatively impacted. Only five percent believe their paycheck will be positively impacted post election.  Individuals age 50 to 59 are more concerned about negative implications to their paychecks at 44 percent.

“The survey findings illustrate that managing day-to-day personal finances is a struggle for many Americans in today’s economy,” Stephanie Klein, head of consumer lending for NetCredit, said. “Even events like the upcoming election force many Americans to re-think their finances and spending habits.”

The issues causing the biggest concerns among the individuals polled include healthcare costs and a rise in taxes. To read the full survey, visit NetCredit.
