TargetGov and bwtech@UMBC Team Up to Offer Courses on Government Contracting

According to American Express Open, women-owned businesses represented less than 4% of the businesses receiving government contracting in 2011. In an effort to boost those numbers and give women-owned businesses, and other early-stage companies, the chance to learn more about securing those lucrative federal government contracts and other facets of the federal marketplace, TargetGov and the bwtech@UMBC Research Park are teaming up to produce a series of courses for the newly created Government Contracting Institute, it was announced Tuesday (October 16).

“Government contracting is a multi-billion dollar market and the fact that bwtech@UMBC Research & Technology Park is partnering with TargetGov on the Government Contracting Institute is testimony to their vision of supporting business incubation, acceleration and growth,” says TargetGov president Gloria Larkin, who will be coordinating instructor selection for the courses.

The courses, which will take place at bwtech@UMBC, include Federal Contracting Gap Analysis, Market Identification Strategies and Tactics, Illuminating the Federal Sales Process, Marketing to Win Government Contracts, Navigating the GSA Schedule System, Proposal Writing Tools for Success, Fundamental Contract & Project Management, Essential Accounting Components, Clarifying Legal Requirements, Demystifying Security Clearances, and Merits and Qualifications of  Socioeconomic Certifications.

Space for the courses will be limited.
