The Baltimore Regional Chapter of NAWBO (NAWBO BRC – Build Reach Collaborate) hosted a very successful certification and procurement event with the intention to inform and education women business owners and entrepreneurs yesterday at the BWI Sheraton in Baltimore, MD.
The program featured sessions designed to help navigate various application processes with the desire for attendees to walk away with a clear understanding of the application process, requirements and tips from the experts who actually review and approve applications. Panels also offered valuable information regarding opportunities in corporate America and the ability to interact and network with procurement officers and supplier diversity contacts shed light about how to successfully go about doing business with their companies.
Successful businesses shared inspiring stories about how certification helped them grow their business and valuable strategic marketing advice (as well as do’s and don’t’s) was presented with a goal to help attendees increase their chances for success. Everyone was excited to hear plenary comments by Zenita Wickham Hurley, the new Special Secretary of the Governor’s Office of Minority Affairs.
Attendees enjoyed sessions featuring expert speakers such MyCity4Her’s Expert Guest Editor Gloria Larkin of TargetGov, Affiliate Content Mc Laughlin of the Mc Laughlin Law Group, Veronica Cool of Wells Fargo, Rick Martinez of Pec Consulting and more. Notable women in business in attendance included Maria Martinez, Interim CEO of WEB, INC and Founder/CEO of Respira Medical , Board Member of the Maryland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce as well as Chair of the Governor’s Commission of Hispanic Affairs; as well as several other leading women in business from Maryland and surrounding area.
