Girl Scouts To Mark 100th Anniversary With Grand Slam Celebration In June

Girl Scouts of Central Maryland (GSCM) is encouraging Girl Scout members, family, friends, alumnae, supporters—and O’s fans– to be a part of one of the biggest 100th anniversary celebrations in the nation when they have a Baltimore-style birthday bash at Camden Yards on June 24th.

“There’s going to be something at the game for everyone to do. We will have green cotton candy, face painting, tattoos, SWAPS, costumed characters, songs and maybe even a flash mob,” Girl Scout Jessica Miles reported. Miles created the souvenir patch that will be given to each girl that attends the game. And of course, for baseball fans it is the Battle of the Beltways — the Baltimore Orioles are playing the Washington Nationals.

Currently on sale are great ticket packages that include access to the bullpen party and lower level seats. Girl Scouts is encouraging all Grand Slam game attendees to purchase tickets from their website: 100.gscm.org because Girl Scouts will benefit financially from every ticket sold through their website.

GSCM CEO, Traci A. Barnett, admits that this is a party with a purpose: “In addition to celebrating 100 years of a great organization that has helped thousands of women realize their leadership potential and become members of Congress, astronauts, lawyers, scientists and business owners, Barnett asserted, “the Grand Slam event will help ensure that Girl Scouting in central Maryland continues for another hundred years.” Girl Scouts and the Orioles have a rich and long tradition in the Baltimore area. ‘We are inviting everyone who has been a part of these traditions to come out and celebrate with us,” Barnett said.
