American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women Luncheon Happening Tomorrow!

It’s a call to action for hundreds of women to take charge of their heart health! The American Heart Association’s (AHA) Greater Baltimore Region will host its first Go Red for Women Luncheon on Friday, June 1st from 10am to 1pm at the Frederick Douglass Isaac-Myers Maritime Park Museum located at 1417 Thames Street in Fells Point.

Go Red for Women is the American Heart Association’s national movement to save women’s lives – educating and connecting millions of women of all ages on the personal and urgent truths of heart disease. With 1 out of 3 women dying from heart disease, AHA is committed to fighting this No. 1 killer, which is largely preventable through nutrition and physical fitness. Statistics show that more than 1.4 million women have joined the movement and 89 percent of them have taken some action to improve their health. GoRedForWomen.org, a premiere source of information and education, connects millions of women of all ages and gives them tangible resources to turn personal choices into lifesaving action. Scientific research and educational programs can mean the difference between life and death, and are critical in bringing an end to heart disease.

Women business leaders, heart survivors and supporters will put on their best red attire and step out for an exciting luncheon which focuses on preventing heart disease and stroke by promoting healthy lifestyles, while raising money to support awareness, education and cardiovascular disease research in women. This spectacular luncheon is chaired by Patti Brown, President of Johns Hopkins Healthcare LLC and Molly Shattuck, Founder and President of Molly Shattuck Vibrant Living. Breakout sessions begin at 10:30am and will include healthy cooking demos, health screenings, fitness demonstrations and CPR/AED training. ABC2 News is the media sponsor featuring news anchor, Kelly Swoope as the emcee. Keynote Speaker will include Dr. Nisha Chandra Strobos, head cardiologist and AHA’s National President, Dr. Gordon Tomaselli from Johns Hopkins Medicine and hear testimonials from compelling heart survivors.
