The Maryland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce

Diversify your business network – Maryland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Legislative reception

The Maryland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is hosting its 2013 Maryland Hispanic Business Legislative Reception on Tuesday, February 12, 2013  in downtown Annapolis, MD alongside the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Montgomery County, the Salvadoran American Chamber of Commerce of the DC Metro Area, and the Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and in collaboration with the Governor’s Commission on Hispanic Affairs.  For women in business seeking to diversify and increase their business network state wide, this is an event NOT TO BE MISSED.

MDHCC Chairwoman Veronica Cool

The MDHCC is Chaired by one of the region’s most dynamic, successful and accomplished business women – Veronica Cool, Principal Business Banker and Vice President  of Business Banking at Wells Fargo. “The Legislative Reception gathers a large group of the leaders within the Hispanic and minority business community to productively strengthen the relationship with our legislators and actively improve the business climate in the region. After all, we all want more business, more contracts, more jobs- And the Legislative reception is the place to foster economic growth!” says Cool.

The Maryland Hispanic Chamber’s core mission is to facilitate connection between the increasingly influential Hispanic Business Community and other state business community stakeholders. The reception is one of the most anticipated opportunities to engage legislators and their constituents in a productive dialog and opportunity to move forward positively on various common concerns including labor, immigration, fiscal and economic issues as well as work together to find solutions for the benefit of the greater Maryland community.

“It is the Latino community that will decide who controls the White House in 2016 so this State of the Union Address represent the opening salvo of a campaign designed to win the hearts and minds of the Latino community”, said Gilberto de Jesus, Vice President of the MDHCC.

The reception is particularly timely, as it falls on the same evening that President Barack Obama is expected to issue his first State of the Union address, followed by a Republican response from the Republican GOP, Senator Marco Rubio. The Senator’s rebuttal to Obama’s State of the Union address will focus on solutions that restore a weakening economy, offsetting Obama’s government-centered methodology.

Rubio is a Cuban-American emerging political leader, whose modern strategies and beliefs have labeled him the key to the rejuvenation of the Republican Party. His Hispanic background welcomes a broad new audience, while maintaining and protecting Republican basic principles.

Despite conflicting political standpoints, the rise of President Obama and Senator Rubio are almost mirror images in their respective parties. Both men had lesser dreams for their political careers, and soared through the rankings as demand for their eloquence and relevance reached an all time high. Obama and Rubio are considered both intelligent and inspirational leaders, and Rubio may just continue on in Obama’s footsteps and become a future presidential elect.

Rubio’s political presence and Hispanic background are just the combination that will make him a topic of conversation at the 2013 Business Legislative Reception. The reception is being held at the Maryland House of Delegates in Annapolis, MD, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Registration costs $15 regardless of Chamber affiliation.
