Network 2000 Women of Excellence 2013 – Geena Davis & Gender Equality

Network 2000, which promotes the advancement of women in professional and executive roles, will hold its 20th annualWomen of Excellence luncheon with Academy Award-winning actor Geena Davis. Davis will speak about gender equality and why it matters.

This is happening Wednesday, November 6, at 11 a.m. at Martin’s West, located at 6817 Dogwood Road in Baltimore, MD.

A longtime champion of women’s empowerment and gender equality, Davis founded the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media, which seeks to increase the percentage of female characters and reduce stereotyping in media made for children. The programming arm of the institute, See Jane, uses research, education and advocacy to engage the entertainment industry. In addition, Davis champions opportunities for women in athletics.

Davis produced and starred as the first female president of the United States in ABC’s “Commander and Chief,” in addition to starring in dozens of other television shows and films, including “Thelma and Louise,” “A League of Their Own” and “Tootsie.”
