Recently ComForcare Home Care Services – NW Baltimore County—sponsored and hosted the 100th Birthday celebration of Mrs. Mindelle Moon on Friday, February 14, 2014 at newly opened Collins Seafood and Grill in Randallstown, Maryland. What makes this news, is that this is exactly the type of thing that makes CEO of Comforcare Baltimore Jenette Young, a Leader to Watch. The dynamic, successful and model entrepreneur who has been recognized by Comforcare HQ as one of the country’s fastest growing and innovative franchisees excels at all she does, and taking care of a favorite client to mark a milestone birthday is no exception.
Mrs. Moon arrived via limousine and was greeted by ComForcare staff and caregivers, family, friends and community well-wishers. She was presented with proclamations from the Baltimore County Executive’s Office, the Mayor’s Office and the Senator’s office. Ms. Moon received Birthday presents, flowers, a crab cake lunch and cake.
Mrs. Moon was born on February 14, 1914. Her husband was the late Mr. Roy Moon; he was a racing horse jockey. The Moons were very diligent parishers at Hunt Valley Church. As stated by a long time friend, Lisa Eisemann, “She always seemed to have a strong faith, and was always such a very outspoken confident person. If something was amiss, wasn’t being handled rightly, Mrs. Moon was never afraid to call someone on it. She was brave, and willing to risk someone being unhappy with her to right a wrong. Just the right mix of kind and feisty!”
Mrs. Moon served as a director in the Maryland Health Department. She was instrumental in educating communities at large on tuberculosis. Mrs. Moon was also affiliated in a leadership capacity with the Campfire Girls.
Another friend of Mrs. Moon, Lynn Freitag, stated: “ You made wooden cats that you painted black and gave to friends; it was your signature gift!” “The other memory I have is of you swimming in our pool.”
