‘Fashion Find’ Inspiration

By Affiliate Stacey Munsell

If you’re like me sometimes you just get bored of the things in your closet and the outfits you put together, you are searching for inspiration. There are a few ways I get my inspiration.

Check out the people around you.  What are they wearing, do you like what they are wearing, would you wear it and how can you adapt it to your style?  I often look at people and think, wow that is an amazing outfit, but they should have black shoes on, not the ones they are wearing.  So I look through my closet, find a similar look and wear it with the shoes I think look best.

Magazines, and of course fashion magazines, are terrific sources, some better than others depending on your personal style.  “Lucky” and “InStyle” seem to have the most realistic combinations and show clothing from stores you can find and with prices you can probably afford.  Other fashion magazines like Vogue, Elle and Bazaar are fun to look at, but many of the fashions are unrealistic to wear everyday or are so couture you could not afford them, so take bits and pieces from these, colors, hosiery, shoes….. You can even probably find knock off similar looks in some discount stores.

Believe it or not you can even find inspiration for dressing from home decor. Notice peoples’ homes and decorations, look for unique color combinations, fabrics and textures and adapt them to your wardrobe.

Inspiration boards can be fun too. Often times these are used for goal planning, but cut out some of your favorite looks and put them all on a poster board you can refer back to.  Or if you’re not into gluing, simply tear out what you like and put the pages in a folder.  One last tip for inspiration is don’t wait until the last minute to select your outfit for the day, give it some thought, try putting your outfit together the night before. You probably do this with the week’s dinner menu. I actually take a look at my schedule for the week and the expected weather report and get outfits for the week together and hang them in my closet, I even know what shoes and jewelry I will wear with each one.  This gives me the time to put some thought into what I will wear and allows me to be creative instead of rushing around in the morning before work.

So take a peek in your closet and see if you can put together an outfit from the inspiration you gathered.  If not go shopping or let me take you.  My shopping services are available, call 443 458 8361 or email me staceylynn@email.com.
