Q&A 4Her – Julia Hutton, President of ExTreme ReTrailers

If you want to open a retail store, chances are you’re spending a lot of time searching for the perfect location. What if the perfect location turns out to be not-so-perfect after all? Are you and your business stuck?

Inspired innovator and woman entrepreneur Julia Hutton is coming to the rescue with ExTreme ReTrailers. ExTreme ReTrailers offers mobility for retail stores, ensuring that they’re not tied down to any one location–something that can be costly if the “perfect” location never comes through.

Julia shared more information about her business with MyCity4Her in her Q&A 4Her interview. Read on for more!

What is the unique problem or situation your product or service solves?

The unique problem is that of mobility for retail stores every where. If the location is bad, you have challenges that are not solvable other than by drastic measures. ExTreme ReTrailers solves this problem.

Hardly anyone has enough money to buy their own commercial space. Until ExTreme ReTrailers came along, there were few options other than renting – on a wing and a prayer that you made a wise location, location, location decision.

ExTreme ReTrailers makes it EASY to own your own storefront. Enjoy the worry-free luxury that you can take your storefront filled with your goodies to events where thousands of customers are right outside your door – when you open that ReTrailer Door of yours, for your customers to swarm in and check you out.

NOW, you can take your store with you and position wherever you can work out a deal. If it turns out to be a bad location, try another and another until you get it right.

With over half the population over 55 these days, Snow Birds are a force to be reckoned with. Many still want to work part time and with an ExTreme ReTrailed, themed out to their specifications, they can take their office/store with them.

ExTreme ReTrailers easily could mean working 3 days a week (with 4 days off) given you find the right events, position, etc. There are events constantly, every where to take your store to.

You easily pay for your ExTreme ReTrailer Show Room, many times over by not renting commercial space.

Could this bring new meaning to Trailer Park? ReTrailer Park Maybe?

What in hindsight would you say you underestimated about this particular industry or running your own business and why?

What didn’t I underestimate is really the question! Oh my!

In spite of ALL the experience I’ve had in business and ALL the knowledge I have about it, start ups are a bitch! People, money, economic times — I under estimated everything. I can’t recommend highly enough for people who are starting up to hire a mentor.

What is the best business related advice you have ever been given?

“The Business of Business is Business.” – Milton Friedman

What were the hardest barriers in getting your idea off the ground?

Finding the right location. Finding competent personnel.

What do you enjoy best about being an entrepreneur?

I like the creativity required in thinking through tough problems. I am also inspired by free enterprise and what it can mean if people set their minds to something they desperately want.

Do you feel becoming an entrepreneur has helped you grow as a person? If so – how?

Oh yes. No question about that. One has to learn to work harmoniously in win-win situations consistently in order to be successful in business. That has helped me mellow out in my personal life, a lot. If it isn’t a fair deal; it isn’t a good deal.
