Women Presidents’ Organization Launches Second Chapter in Baltimore

The Women Presidents’ Organization (WPO) will launch its second Baltimore chapter on March 19, 2012 at PNC Bank, Two Hopkins Plaza in Baltimore City. The WPO is the premier peer advisory organization for multimillion dollar women led companies ($2 million in annual revenue or $1 million for a service-based business are minimum criteria for membership).

The WPO globally connects women entrepreneurs for greater professional success.  In monthly meetings across four continents, 97 chapters of 20 accomplished women entrepreneurs from diverse industries and backgrounds invest time and energy in themselves and their businesses to drive their corporations to the next level. Local WPO chapters are coordinated by a professional facilitator and meet monthly to share business expertise and experience in a confidential setting.

“A recent survey concluded that 80% of members found that the WPO helped manage their business concerns and continues to be a resource, already used by 1,500 women entrepreneurs, to accelerate their growth and enhance competitiveness,” said Marsha Firestone Ph.D., president and founder of the Women Presidents’ Organization.

“I’m pleased to extend this opportunity to other Women CEO’s in the area,” said Chapter Chair Betty Hines. “I’m excited to share our business and leadership experiences with other women business owners. Together we will help promote and further the growth of their already successful businesses.”

According to the latest census, Maryland has the highest percentage of women-owned businesses of any state in the country and has one of the fastest growing rates of women ownership. Women in Maryland own 33 percent of businesses, an increase from the 31 percent owned by women in 2002.

The Chapter will cover the counties of Anne Arundel Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Hartford, Howard and Prince George.
