The House Of Ruth Maryland held a grand opening for its new retail shop this past weekend. The shop, called Ruth’s Closet, is located in the Valley Village Shopping Center at 9131 Reisterstown Road in Owings Mills.
Ruth’s Closet, the first social enterprise by the House Of Ruth Maryland, is an upscale, resale boutique featuring new and gently worn women’s clothing and accessories. All proceeds from Ruth’s Closet support the House Of Ruth Maryland’s programs and services for the victims of domestic violence.
“Ruth’s Closet is a project we are very excited about,” said Sandi Timmins, Executive Director at the House Of Ruth Maryland. “Ruth’s Closet makes it possible for the House Of Ruth Maryland to use the generous donations we receive to provide another source of funding to support programs and services for the victims of domestic violence.”
Staffed almost exclusively by dedicated volunteers, the shop is open Wednesday 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Thursday 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Friday 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. In addition to fashionable clothing, shoes, and accessories, the House Of Ruth Maryland’s B-More Bags can be purchased at Ruth’s Closet.
“Our goal is to provide the public with an opportunity to purchase fabulous clothing at affordable prices, and, at the same time, provide information about our services to individuals who may be in need of help or may know someone who needs our services,” said Terri Wurmser, Director of Social Enterprises at the House Of Ruth Maryland. Ruth’s Closet provides a new way for the public to support the House Of Ruth Maryland. Ruth’s Closet is seeking additional volunteers to staff the boutique, help sort donations, make donations and spread the word about Ruth’s Closet and the House Of Ruth Maryland.
