Santé: A Taste of Baltimore, Feb. 28

Charm City’s premier food and beverage event is back to benefit the National Kidney Foundation Serving Maryland and Delaware (NKFMDDE).

Over 300 guests are anticipated for the 2019 Santé: A Taste of Baltimore, taking place Thursday, Feb. 28, from 6 to 9 p.m., at the American Visionary Art Museum in Downtown Baltimore.

This business casual evening will feature tastings from 20 of Baltimore’s best restaurants, caterers and chefs, paired with enticing beverages including: B&O American Brasserie, Boordy Vineyards, Chef’s Expressions, Flavor Cupcakery, Little Havana, Little Fig Bake Shop, Natasha’s Just Brittle, Raven Beer, Roy’s, Sandy Bottom Sparkling Rum Cocktails and Zeffert and Gold Catering.

Adding to the fun will be celebrity judges, the People’s Choice competition, entertainment, raffles and a silent auction featuring sports memorabilia, dining, entertainment, local art, spa, health and fitness, and vacation packages.

“Santé is a delicious and fun night out and easy way to become engaged and learn about a major health crisis in our community,” said event chair Sumeska Thavarajah, MD (assistant professor of medicine – Division of Nephrology at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center and chair of NKFMDDE’s Medical Advisory Board).

“People with kidney disease need our support. Join us and make a difference.”

Kidney disease is the 9th leading cause of death nationwide and affects 1 in 9 Marylanders. Santé proceeds will support NKFMDDE’s local patient emergency assistance program, providing essentials such as medication, food, transportation to dialysis, housing costs and utilities. Dollars raised also help fund vital research from the top nephrologists at Johns Hopkins Medicine and University of Maryland Medical Center.

Melanie Molinaro (executive chef at Little Fig Bake Shop and Little Gem Prepared Meals) is the Santé restaurant recruitment chair. The cause is personal as she experienced kidney issues since age 4 and was in and out of hospitals until age 21.

Santé sponsors incude NKFMDDE annual partners, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, Johns Hopkins, MANA and University of Maryland Medical Center, as well as Allegis Group and Beck-n-Call Event Services, LLC.

Admission to Santé is $100/person or $2,500 for a table of 10. To purchase tickets or tables and/or to receive sponsorship, vendor participation or auction donation information, visit: http://www.kidneymd.org/events/sante-a-taste-of-baltimore/ or call 410.494.8545.
