Meet Rita Walters – Spirited Woman in Balance

Rita Walters is the Vice President for Institutional Advancement at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA). Over her career, Rita has raised millions of dollars for education and nonprofit organizations, most recently as chief development officer for the Washington National Cathedral.

Before joining the WNC, Rita was a senior associate director of development for Johns Hopkins University Zanvyl Krieger School of Arts and Sciences, director of development for the Baltimore Presbytery, and annual fund officer for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Maryland, in addition to multiple roles in special events coordination.

The Spirited Woman in Balance award honors a working mother who is successfully juggling all that life brings her – family, career, all the while engaging in spirited endeavors such as community service, mentorship and philanthropy. Rita has managed to maintain balance while excelling in her career and giving back to the community. She is one of 17 spirited Baltimoreans who will be recognized at the upcoming event taking place in the beautiful Inner Harbor. What better way to kick off a weekend than with an inspiring lunch and afternoon with a beautiful view?
